The FIFA World Cup 2026 kicks off on Thursday, 11 June 2026, when host nation Mexico face South Africa at the iconic Mexico City Stadium, making it the first stadium to host matches at three separate men's World Cups. The tournament runs for 39 days across 16 venues in three countries, wrapping up with the final at New York New Jersey Stadium (officially renamed from MetLife Stadium for the duration of the event) on Sunday, 19 July 2026.

A rematch of the 2018 World Cup semi-final, where Croatia eliminated England in extra time. England are in Group L alongside Croatia, Panama and Ghana. This opener at Dallas Stadium is the fixture England will use to set the tone for their entire campaign.
